Mr. A. K. Rakesh, an IAS officer of the 1989 batch has been appointed as the Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Gujarat Maritime Board. While holding the additional charge in GMB, he continues to be the Development Commissioner, Government of Gujarat.
A Bachelor in Technology in Civil Engineering, Mr. A. K. Rakesh brings to the position dynamism and leadership qualities honed by over 20 years of working in various State Government Departments. Beginning his Civil Services career as District Development Officer of Bhavnagar, Mr. A. K. Rakesh has held important positions like Collector of various districts, Jt. Commissioner of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd., Additional Secretary of Finance Department, Managing Director of Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., Mission Director at the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department where he spearheaded the mega Nirmal Gujarat campaign and Secretary of Urban Housing just to name a few.
Being linguistically proficient in English, Hindi and Gujarati, he comes across as an amiable person efficient in administration. |
