Navlakhi is an all-weather roadstead Port. It is situated in the Gulf of Kutch
on the west coast of India.

Pilotage :
Pilotage is not compulsory at
the Port upto a draft of 9.14 Mtrs. For a draft of more than
9.14 Mtrs. Local Pilotage guide is necessary from Tunna buoy.
Anchorage
About 5.5 Kms. Offshore, two
vessels can work at a time. Depth at anchorage varies between
9.00 to 12.5 Meters. Lighters can move between shore and Ship
throughout the day. There is anchorage of 1.6 Kms.
South-eastward of Nawinar Lighthouse with a depth of 10 to 12
Meters.
Facilities:
- Private barges arranged by port users enable handling of 10,000 to 15,000
metric tonnes of cargo per day.
- Storage Facilities:
- Open plots around: 1,19,420 sq. mtrs.
- Platforms around: 17,800 sq. mtrs
- Covered godowns are available
- Lighterage with one anchor buoy permissible draft 13.5m - at 5.5 miles
from the port.
Deeper drafted vessels permissible draft 16 m are lightened
at the outer-reach 29 miles from the port;33 Self-propelled barges (500-1800
tonnes) and one privately owned lighter
jetty with 5 berths (length 102 meters);
- The ports passenger jetty and storage area were damaged during the 1998
cyclone and are still not repaired;

Planned Activities:
- At Navlakhi M/s United Shippers Ltd., M/s Dharmsi Morarji & Co.,and M/s
Jaydeep Associates have been allotted to create private jetty for handling of
cargo at their cost, of which one deep-water lighterage jetty of 102 m. has
been constructed by M/s U.S.L and has been operational since March 2000.
- A lighter wharf of 76.5 m. on Sui Creek has been allotted to M/s Jaydeep
Associate Ltd. The Company had renovated the wharf and put it in operation
since January 2004.
- GMB has prepared a master plan for Navlakhi through consultants, to
construct it as per international standards. As per the master plan, new
berthing facilities by providing RCC Jetty is completed and the works of
internal roads, stacking platforms with compound
wall is in progress and auto sprinkling system, fire-fighting system,
shore protection water supply facilities etc. are to be developed. The
approximate cost of the project will be Rs. 63 crore.
- Infrastructure:
Navlakhi is connected to morbid by road and the national Highway.
It is connected by broad gauge railway line with the rest of India
via Maliya.
The nearest airport is at Rajkot
