Main Criteria:
Jafrabad is an all-weather direct berthing Port for small ocean-going vessels. It is situated in the Gulf of Cambay on the south-west coast of Saurashtra, inside the Jafrabad Creek on the west coast of India.

Trade estimate 2010:
2.9 mln tonnes;

Marine Features:

• MHWS – 2.88 meters

• MHWN – 2.20 meters

• MLWS – 1.50 meters

• MLWN – 0.90 meters

Facilities:

1. Berthing Facilities:

   1. New Clinker Jetty for small coastal steamers, with a working length of 211 m. and 5 m. draft. Small coastal steamers berth at the new clinker jetty for export of Clinker and import of Coal and Coke on account of M/s Narmada Cement Co. Ltd., Jafrabad.

   2. R.C.C. jetty for sailing vessels traffic, with a length of 45.7 mtrs. And a 1 mtrs. draft.

   3. One fish-loading wharf for fishing activities, with a length of 40 mtrs. draft.

   4. Three landing slopes, with a length of 30 mtrs. and 0.30 mtrs. draft for passenger and small boats.

2. Cargo Handling Equipment: M/s Narmada Cement Co. Ltd. has been taken over by L&T Jafrabad load Clinker through use of their own conveyor belt system with a speed of 300 MT per hour. They discharge coal by their own cranes and average about 9,000 to 10,000 MT per day.

3. Warehousing and storage facilities: There are seven godowns available, with an area of 1,310 sq. mtrs. They have a storage capacity of 2,500 MT. Sufficient open space is available.

4. Private bunkering and ship stores are available.

Planned Activities:

• To expand current pier.

• Also a RoRo service is under discussion;.

Infrastructure:
Road connections through the ‘coastal highway’;

Industries:
Jafrabad is connected by road and rail with other parts of the country. The nearest metre guage railhead is Rajula/Dungar. The board guage railhead is Surendranagar. Nearest airport is Bhavnagar.

Import: Coal,Coke
Export: Clinker,Salt,Roof Tiles, etc.
